We offer currently offer estrus synchronization, artificial insemination, semen sales, and semen storage.
There are many factors that go into a successful conception. Body condition, nutrition, hormonal factors, environmental factors, etc. It takes at least five years to have a successful ai program due to all of these factors.
Assuming everything goes right, you can expect roughly 70% success rate.
We serve the entirety of Alaska.
I need a two month minimum booking time.
I only ai cows.
1. Determine age and whether the animal is a cow or a heifer.
2. Choose an estrus synchronization protocol.
3. Depending on the protocol, a shot of GNRH is given to aid the production of follicles (eggs). After 5-7 days, a shot of lutenizing hormone is given to kick off the official heat cycle. After 24-32 hours after the onset of standing heat (where the cow stands to be mounted) the cow ovulates.
Estrus synch programs will vary on when artificial insemination is conducted, but the goal is to get as close to ovulation as possible.
Estrus Synchronization is the process of synching a cow's natural estrus to a certain timeline.
If you know when your cow is coming into heat, no.
Heat detection is the single most important factor in the success of artificial insemination.
There are several factors that affect heat detection, namely how strongly the cow expresses signs of heat. Depending on her age, breed, previous calving status, if she has other cattle near her, the time of year, weather, or the synchronization products used, it can affect the strength, frequency, and timing of her heat. This is why I generally use estsrus synchronization to start problem solving and learning the individual cow's heat strength.
