Cattle are one of the most adaptable animals on the planet, able to thrive on land that is unsuitable for crops.    However, not every cow is suitable to every environment.  Unfortunately, we see breeders who do not take this into consideration when selling live cattle, straws and embryos to different places around the globe.  This places strain on the recipients and sets them up for failure when the cows are unable to adapt.

Another trend we are seeing is cattle who are not fit to reproduce.  The role hormones play in the reproductive cycle carry the utmost importance, and a hormonally imbalanced cow is an unproductive cow.

Masculine cows and feminine bulls are prime examples of this hormone imbalance.  Yet we see certain breeders forcing fertility through IVF and Embryo Transfer.   

 In the Lower 48 there are a number of show breeders who are producing cattle that require more than the land itself can provide. Their cattle are requiring more and more grain in order to survive,   Such cattle put a financial strain on the producer and creates a fragile food security network with the expense it takes to maintain them.
